Class of 1957
Above is a photo of Mike Bourdrez ’57, Merrill Cates '57 and John Schwartz ’57 in front of the house on East 19th Street that Mike lived in while in high school at Friends.
As reported by John Schwartz ’57
Upon learning that Mike Bourdrez ’57 would be visiting New York from New Mexico in December, Friends planned a tour of today’s Friends Seminary and a lunch for a small group of our classmates. The group that finally attended was small, consisting of Mike Bourdrez ’57, Merrill Cates '57 and me, but Friends pulled it off with style. Rebecca Holmes of the Friends staff, assisted by Michael Mudho, showed us around the expanded and renovated school, including many new spaces but also a few familiar ones like the Meetinghouse. We then adjourned to the National Arts Club on Gramercy Park for a great lunch, where we were joined by Marjorie Jean-Paul, the new Director of Advancement at Friends, and shared a few stories (I have concluded that a benefit of our advanced age is the stories we have collected).
Class of 1975
As reported by Fran Buno ’75 and Adam Owett ’75
Hello Classmates! Our 50th reunion is just around the corner, and we wanted to make sure you SAVE THE DATE on your 2025 calendar. Reunion weekend will start on Friday, May 16 with some events at the school and a cocktail reception hosted by the school, most likely at the National Arts Club.
Saturday, May 17 will have several events at the school, and then our 1975-only gathering in the evening, which is still in the planning stages, but will include a quiet place to have drinks and dinner and catch up on each others’ lives.
We are also hoping to have something on Sunday, May 18, but won’t have that nailed down in time for publication of this edition of Class Notes.
Stay tuned and reach out to Adam or Fran if you have ideas or would like to help with the planning.
