Judith Anderson ‘66, Kindergarten Teacher for over 50 Years to Retire

At the end of this School year, our beloved Kindergarten teacher, Judith (Judy) Anderson ‘66, will be retiring from Friends Seminary. Since 1972 Judy has been teaching and guiding the youngest members of the Friends Seminary community. Judy brought to her teaching experience a deep understanding of Friends Seminary, having attended and graduated Friends in 1963-66. She stays in close relationships with countless past students and is generous with her time and spirit. For many years, Judy has led a Music & Storytelling workshop for children of alumni during Reunion that has drawn an enthusiastic turnout, reflecting the continued appreciation alumni feel toward Judy and their excitement to share her warmth with their children.

Judy’s tenure at Friends has been incredibly meaningful to generations of students, faculty, and staff and shaped the School we know today. Her impact will continue to be felt for years to come among past students and colleagues. As her coworker, Mirtha Martinez, shared: “I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work so closely with Judy Anderson and even luckier to be able to call her a friend. Judy comes in every morning with that first day of school energy. Her dedication, wisdom, kindness and eagerness to learn are unmatched, and let’s not forget her amazing style! Judy’s warmth and enthusiasm will be greatly missed at Friends but her impact will be felt forever by so many.”
