Note from Barry Blumenfeld:

I have a small favor to ask graduates from 2010-2025. A professor at NYU is doing some research on the impacts of dance education. She is using Friends' program for this study, and so we need a few minutes of your time to fill out a survey. Her letter is below, and the link to the survey is in the text of the letter.

Hey, I know surveys can be a pain, but I'd really appreciate it if you could do this.

Best,

Barry

Dear Friends Seminary Graduates,

I am sending you this letter to invite you to participate in a research project. The purpose of this research is to ascertain the complete experience of participating in dance class(es) in the K-12 environment. I am a long-standing professor of dance education at NYU. Through this research I would like to articulate the value and contributions of dance education as an essential aspect of a formal K-12 education. Your participation can help identify that value in realistic terms.

This is being sent to all those who graduated from Friends Seminary School, New York, between 2010-2025. Specifically, this questionnaire centers on the dance courses that you took while a student in this school.  If you did not participate in at least one dance class while a student in Friends Seminary School, please ignore this questionnaire. This questionnaire is completely anonymous and cannot be traced to you. Here is the questionnaire.

If you are interested, I will follow up this survey with a more in-depth interview of a few of the respondents. To participate in this in-depth interview, please contact me at susan.koff@nyu.edu. As a reminder, your responses to this Qualtrics survey questionnaire cannot be traced. Therefore, if you are interested in this follow up interview, you must express interest to me via an email.

If you volunteer for this in-depth interview, you will be asked first to complete a new permission form and though you will be identified to me as the researcher, your identity will be held confidentially only by me.

Thank you for your contributions.

Sincerely,

Susan R. Koff, Ed.D.
