Letter from the Director of Alumni Relations

Dear Friends,

Friends Seminary’s’ 238th school year is underway! Last month Friends welcomed a record 802 students to campus. Judging by the smiles and excitement from the newest members of the community starting their Friends journey, it is clear that your alma mater continues to be a special place that offers unique opportunities for student exploration and learning. The School’s theme for this year is Continuing a Culture of Connection, selected by the Head of School, Bo Lauder, because, “After hearing much from all quarters about the need to strengthen our ties as a community following some challenging years, we are emphasizing our identity as an academic community grounded in Quaker testimonies of peace, equality, community and service.” We encourage you to enjoy the first day alongside the students by viewing our Welcome Back video here.

This year Friends welcomes four new senior administrators: a new Associate Head of School, a new Director of Admissions and two new Deans. To learn more about Friends’ new hires click here.

This past summer I had the opportunity to connect with alums in the city, as well as in Maine, which was wonderful. For those of you living outside of New York, I plan to engage with you and your classmates in your city soon. We will resume our alumni visits this fall, beginning with Boston and Washington, D.C. Please make note of our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. I am keen to learn about where your interests and passions lie within the School.

In Stewardship,

Michael Mudho

Director of Alumni Relations
