Dear Friends,
This November marked the second annual celebration of National Philanthropy Day at Friends. It was the culmination of week-long activity across the School, gathering the entire community to celebrate the ways we support causes and organizations that care for our world, as well as Friends Seminary itself.
On November 13, The Advancement Team hosted an assembly for the Upper School with guest speaker Neil Blumenthal '98, co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker. Click here for more details. We were thrilled to have Neil share his path to creating a successful business and caring for those who are able to receive eyeglasses. It was inspiring to have upper school students stick around after Neil’s talk to speak with members of the advancement team about the balance of running a successful business and advancing social good.
Our featured alumni Sara Garlick Lundberg '94, is another Friends graduate making an impact in the world. As the Managing Partner at DHR, she leads the firm’s nonprofit search practice. Sara’s career was inspired by her involvement with nonprofit organizations and volunteering at Friends Seminary, including the bag decorating project for God’s Love We Deliver. Our Graduate Of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Spotlight features Julian Reyes '23, whose commitment to service at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia has led him to travel to high schools in Florida and New Jersey, to speak with and encourage young students of color to pursue higher education. Each of these alumni have been inspired early in their lives and they were prepared “to engage in the world that is and to help bring about a world that ought to be.”
Meet the Advancement Team

The team works alongside current faculty, students, parents and alumni to raise financial support for the School each year in ways that translate into meaningful opportunities for our students. The team fosters community through direct outreach, events that bring our community together and alumni programming around professional networking and mentoring for alumni of all ages as well as current students.
