Margaret Sandra Carmichael Paull of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Bonita Springs, Florida, died peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at her home with her beloved husband by her side.


She was the daughter of Flora Furen Carmichael and Emmett Scott Carmichael. She was born January 26, 1939, in New York City. She was a graduate of Friends Seminary in New York and Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida where she received the two highest awards the college bestows upon graduates, the Campbell Award for Scholarship and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Medallion for character. She did graduate work in earth science at Rutgers University.


Mrs. Paull taught elementary school in Orlando, Florida and Alexandria, Virginia. She married James (Jim) Paull III November 13, 1965, at which time she moved to Wellsburg, West Virginia. She was a housewife there for the remaining years of her life. Community activities included membership and presidency of Chapter N, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and president of the WV State Chapter, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Fort Myers, Florida and Chi Omega sorority.

She is survived by her husband, James Paull III of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and a son, James (Jay) Paull IV of Reston, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents.


Memorial donations may be made to P.E.O., Chapter N, 185 Manor Drive, Wellsburg, West Virginia 26070; the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, 1108 Van Buren Avenue, Oxford, Mississippi 38655; and the Brooke County Animal Welfare League, P. O. Box 537, Wellsburg, West Virginia 26070.


Private burial services will be held at the family grave site in Fort Myers, Florida. West Virginia arrangements are being handled by Mullenbach Funeral Home and Florida arrangements by Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Services.
