Friends Athletes Dominate Early Fall Season
This summer Soccer and Volleyball Camp was held Monday, August 23 through Friday, August 27 at Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie NY. Seventy-five Upper School students participated. Fall sports including cross country, soccer, volleyball, and tennis are all back in action. Grades 7-12 students are practicing and have a full roster of games and matches scheduled.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team kicked off the season with 4 impressive victories (and counting). Last weekend the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team scored two goals in the last four minutes of Friday's game to defeat Berkeley Carroll 3 to 2 at the Parade Grounds in Brooklyn. And the Girls Varsity Soccer Team (pictured) also recently defeated Brooklyn Friends 6-0.

Lower School Green Thumbs
Students in Dot’s Class (4D) are the first of the Fourth Grade Greenhouse Stewards to get things started in the School’s rooftop greenhouse. Last week they helped Science Teacher Jeneen Mangel by delivering the first of several boxes of supplies to the space. The students can’t wait to get it all set up and to start planting!
Composer Harry Burleigh Honored with Street Naming
